Standard Wikipedia Disclaimer
What I tell my students is that wikipedia is not a scholarly or academic source, and information found on wikipedia must be verified by other scholarly or academic sources. It is, however, incredibly useful for getting a broad handle on a new subject before doing further in-depth studying. I use it quite often as a jumping-off point, and make no apologies for that.
